Beijing, Oct 27, 2015 - ISPCS 2015 (2015 International IEEE Symposium on Precision Clock Synchronization for Measurement, Control and Communication), hosted by Kyland, was successfully held Oct 11-16, 2015 in Beijing, China. Support came from 11 Technical Co-hosts including IEEE, The State Grid Corporation of China (SGCC), China Mobile Research Institute, PAL and 17 sponsorship partners including Meinberg, Kyland, Oscilloquartz and Microsemi. The first ISPCS held in Asia brought together a total of 87 organizations and 245 participants which included many experts and specialists in the area of Precision Clock Synchronization technologies from around the world. Among all the participants, 65% came from China; the biggest IEEE 1588 market in the world. This brought a significant increase to the academic and real world experience exchange between Chinese enterprises and global experts.
The ISPCS “Plugfest” took place on October 11-13, 2015 and provided the opportunity for member companies to test and demonstrate their devices and system interoperability as well as resolve any compatibility issues. The Plugfest encouraged cooperation to demonstrate system-wide clock synchronization and operation of protocols across as wide a spectrum of devices possible. In total 36 organizations from 4 continents participated in the Plugfest, 15 of were first time participating organizations. The tested networks included: Default Profile IPv4 E2E, Default Profile L2 P2P, G.8265.1 (Unicast IPv4 E2E), Power Profile (L2 P2P) with no VLAN tags, Power Profile with VLAN tags, IPv6 E2E multicast and unicast and Enterprise Profiles. The local host, Kyland, offered outstanding support at this first dual language Plugfest which turned out to be a huge success. All participating organizations, especially the new attendees from China, expressed great satisfaction with the opportunity to test their equipment with others from leading global manufacturers & test organizations.
The Industry Day which was held on Oct 14, 2015 was the first time in ISPCS’s history. The arrangement of the Industry Day combined technical presentations and an exhibition of the sponsorship partners. An application live demo and site tour provided all participants a good chance to understand the status of real life implementation and deployment of IEEE 1588 in China. The live demo introduced the application of IEEE 1588 in China’s power industry was lead by Kyland in collaboration with NR Electric, Sifang and The XJ Group. It introduced a complete IEEE 1588 deployment including TMS (Time Management System) in China’s power industry. “I was particularly impressed by the demo that Judy and her collaborators presented at Industry Day”, said John Edison, President of the ISPCS committee. Besides the live demo, a site tour to China Mobile’s IEEE 1588 lab proved a most interesting part of the Industry Day. With the help of The China Mobile Research Institute 80 experts and specialists from all over the world joined the site tour of the 1588 lab and exchanged their experiences.
The Symposium held on Oct 15-16, 2015 provided a forum for researchers and practitioners from industry, academia and government involved in the area of Precision Clock Synchronization and distributed time-based applications. There were 30 papers published at the Symposium. Dr. Yaozhong Xin from The State Grid Corporation of China (SGCC) and Mr. Alejandro Bevc from the Uruguay National Administration of Power Plants and Power Transmissions (UTE) presented their experience on the implementation and deployment of IEEE 1588 technologies in the power industry which provided all participants valuable information.
Kyland, as a leading industrial communication solution provider, has dedicated years of development to IEEE 1588 synchronization & communication solutions including time servers, IEEE 1588 industrial Ethernet switches, and time testers. Through the introduction of ISPCS into China and being an ISPCS 2015 Platinum sponsorship partner, Kyland is increasing the communication between Chinese associated organizations with experts from all over the world which spurs the growth of business through cooperation of all participants. “ISPCS 2015 was a very satisfying experience.”, said Heiko Gerstung, managing director of Meinberg also a Platinum sponsor of ISPCS 2015. ISPCS 2015 was a great start to connect all Precision Clock Synchronization associated organizations from multiple continents and created a good atmosphere for the cooperation and growth of IEEE 1588 technology implementation.
